# Set the Messenger greeting message

> Write the short Messenger greeting people see before they start a chat with your Facebook Page.

The greeting message is the short description shown on your Messenger entry point before someone taps **Get Started**. Use it to explain what your Page helps with.

## Set the greeting

<Steps>

    Go to **Settings → Channels → Messenger**.

  <Step title="Edit the greeting">
    Find **Greeting** and click **Edit**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Write and save">
    Enter a clear greeting, then save.
  </Step>

## Multiple languages

If your audience uses more than one language, add language variants from the language selector when editing the greeting. Messenger shows the version that matches the person's app language when available.

  Keep the greeting to one or two short sentences. Put detailed offers in the [welcome message](/docs/channels/messenger/welcome-message) flow instead.
